Autumn had settled in without doubt for our Vintage Salsa Night. There is a path carved in the fallen leaves that points to the front door of El Vaquero… a path carved by dancers looking for the most danceable music to be found. If you follow that path to the source, you’ll find slammin’ hard salsa, fun-loving salseros, and the best dance atmosphere around. Not to mention that you can also find delicious margaritas and queso dip that will rock your socks.

It was another great night in Columbus and we were honored by some more out of town visitors. We had a few more guests make the long trek from Pittsburgh just to hear the great music and share our great experiences. Vintage Salsa Nights has also been such a success that El Vaquero wanted to begin staffing the bar in the back room. It is a strange road we walk… just a few months ago we walked into El Vaquero with nothing more than a dream and tried to sell them on the merits of holding a salsa night, and now they are helping us make it even better!

Announcements from the Night:
Photos are up, check the gallery page
MÁS y Mambo Salsa Essentials Series begins on Tuesday October 13th.
Afro-Cuban Dance Workshop with duane Wrenn is next weekend
Salsa Pittsburgh is hosting their Salsa Spooktacular 2009 on Halloween.

Enough chatter… here’s the music:
Marc Anthony – El Día de Mi Suerte
Africando – Yay Boy
Spanish Harlem Orchestra – Somos Iguales
Celia Cruz & Fania All-Stars – Bamboleo
Buena Vista Social Club Presents Ibrahim Ferrer – Que Bueno Baila Usted (Son Montuno)

It’s a well established trend that your second night is one of the toughest. Part of it is that everyone wants to come to a grand opening, and then all of the people that only come occasionally have just come, so they won’t be coming back for a while. For us here at CapCity Salsa, we came in fresh off the high of an amazing first event… and I am here to say that Columbus came out again to say that they love to dance to that rich, danceable salsa beat. We’re stoked. We’re excited. We’re ready to do it again, and from the feedback we are receiving… it sounds like everyone else feels exactly the same.

In related news, our next event will be Salsa at Gallery Hop on October 3rd from 5pm to 10pm. This is a free event open to the existing dance community and anyone that happens to be walking by. This will be out-door, on-the-sidewalk dancing so bring your tennis shoes or Vans. If you can’t make it for the whole time, no worries. Think of Salsa at Gallery Hop as a BBQ without the food. Come, dance, hang out, dance, look at some art, dance, go to a restaurant, dance. It’s big fun, and there is just something special about dancing outside.

One last thing, check the gallery for photos from the Vintage Salsa Night

Enough yabbering… here are some songs from our playlist on 9/23/09 (links open in iTunes)
Tito Puente – Ti Mon Bo
Cheo Feliciano – Nabori
